I'll overwhelm 'legitimate combatant' Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua is set to fight Jake Paul in an eight-round contest which will be streamed live on Netflix.

British boxer Joshua declared he will "stamp all over" the American and "overpower" the American as the pair came face-to-face to publicize the upcoming boxing match.

Former two time unified title holder Joshua meets social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a massive disparity - at Miami's venue on 19 December.

Boxer's Mentality

"I'm going to injure his face and hurt his body. My goal is to show I'm superior," the British boxer, 35 years old, declared.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I'm going to genuinely try to cause him pain. That's what I want to do."

Respectful Exchange

Despite such comments, a calm Anthony Joshua and internet personality Paul - normally known for his dramatics - exchanged pleasantries and remained civil with each other.

Paul instead criticized former Joshua opponent the Cameroonian fighter and described him as "not serious" after Ngannou turned down a bout proposal.

Taking Aim at Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua, at the same time, targeted British opponent Tyson Fury - and declined a million-pound wager 'The Gypsy King' claims he will make on a Paul win.

"Jake Paul is superior to Tyson Fury - he's actually sitting here," the boxer stated.

"I give him credit for that."

Serious Opponent

In spite of stating he plans to damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua declined to comment unfavorably about his opponent's pugilistic talent.

"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he remarked.

Paul's Background

Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has mostly boxed MMA fighters or declining opponents since becoming pro.

He was defeated by Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.

Commercial Attraction

Still, the inexperienced fighter is still one of the sport's biggest money-making draws, regularly earning huge paydays.

Prediction and Belief

The 28 year old anticipated a knockout win in rounds four or five and claimed he would prevent the long-awaited Fury-Joshua bout, which is allegedly in the works for two years from now.

"It will be me versus Tyson Fury next year," Paul stated.

Physical Difference

As Joshua and Paul met for the usual stare-down, with their height and weight contrast clearly visible, it emphasized just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how amazing it is that the bout is really happening.
