Large-scale Russian Assaults Disrupt Power Across Kyiv

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have faced escalating strikes in the past few days

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were hurt while inhabitants in eastern districts were left without electricity and faced interruptions to drinking water, according to local authorities.

Simultaneously, a young boy was killed in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, according to area administrators.

Moscow has intensified strikes on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while officials has demanded "real steps" from international partners to apply pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the America, the EU and the Group of Seven - in supplying air defence systems and implementing sanctions," he wrote in a public message.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty projectiles struck the country's power systems, labeling such strikes as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were working to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles hit electrical systems and civilian homes in the capital.

Several of the people wounded in the assaults on the capital have been taken to hospital, per statements from municipal representatives.

Regional authorities said the city experienced intense attacks during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child lost their life and several individuals were wounded.

The attacks succeed nights of air raids in the territory, sections of which are currently controlled by invading troops.

The whole nation is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to detect.

National leaders told reporters that Moscow was intentionally trying to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already impacting gas facilities.

Officials stated energy workers and officials were preparing for additional strikes.
